Landowners

Who are landowners
Most landowners are individuals or families. They're school teachers, ranchers, farmers, doctors, mechanics, and lawyers. They are generations of landowners. In addition to individuals and families, landowners may be businesses, government agencies, and municipalities. All are committed to preserving the quality and value of their land and continuing to use the land as they always have.

Where landowners live
Our landowners live in all kinds of places – hills, mountains, flatlands, and deserts. What their land has is the wind. In hills or mountains, NextEra Energy Resources wants to build on the summit at the highest elevation to take advantage of the stronger winds. Building on the side of a hill or mountain, diminishes the productivity of a wind turbine.

How much land
How much land is needed depends on the location and the terrain. In flat open areas, about 60 acres is needed for each turbine, though only a tiny part of that area is used for the foundations and access roads.
