NextEra Energy Resources partners with the state of Nebraska to help fourth grade students tour their state capitol and historical sites.
Supporting Local Organizations
NextEra Energy Resources supports the communities where our facilities call home, and the evidence of this support is very visible at the sheriff’s office in Caddo County, Oklahoma. Through our sponsorship, the sheriff’s office was able to purchase its first K-9 unit – a German Shepherd police dog named Zeus – along with a kennel and extensive training for the handler.
Zeus not only assists with solving and deterring crime – detecting narcotics, tracking and apprehending suspects and surveillance of school lockers – but helps boost morale in the community and educate children about law enforcement.
Our company and the sheriff’s office engaged local schools by holding a “Name the K-9 Competition” where students across the county submitted names for the dog. Three schools tied for the winning entry of Zeus.
NextEra Energy Resources has two operating wind farms in Caddo County, with two more in development. Beyond providing clean energy, our company looks for opportunities to support and engage communities, and Zeus will benefit the area for years to come.
