Green-e Certifications
NextEra Energy Resources offers renewable-energy products certified by the Center for Resource Solutions.
- Green-e Energy certification - NextEra Energy Resources offers 100 percent Green-e Certified Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs). Green-e is the nation's leading independent certification and verification program for renewable energy. It is a voluntary consumer-protection program that verifies superior, certified renewable-energy options offered by utilities and marketers in the retail market.
- Green-e Climate certification - Companies can offset their carbon footprint through the purchase of carbon offsets as provided by NextEra Energy Resources' Power Marketing LLC. A project list identifies the projects included in this Green-e Climate certified product. The carbon-offset product content label is below.
Carbon-offset Product Content Label

Renewable Energy Certificates
Renewable Energy Certificates, or RECs, represent the full contractual rights to the "green attributes" of renewable-energy generation. RECs:
- Represent proof that one megawatt-hour of electricity was generated from an eligible renewable resource
- Are transferable, renewable attributes
- Are separate from the actual electricity produced
- Can never be sold twice (or used for more than one REC claim)
Carbon Offsets
Carbon Offsets represent the reduction of a specific quantity of greenhouse gases. Green-e Climate Certified offsets are sourced from verified projects. When an offset is purchased, the purchaser alone has the right to all associated claims about the environmental benefits it represents. An offset:
- Is to be regarded as a real environmental commodity, not a donation or investment in a future project
- Stimulates market demand for emission-reduction projects, leading to more projects that can help mitigate the effect of climate change
