Transmission Services
Need for new transmission
As energy demands continue to grow and the U.S. power transmission system ages, new electric transmission infrastructure is required. This is especially important as
renewable energy generation sources expand and power must be delivered to markets where it's needed.
Our experience
NextEra Energy Resources has experience in transmission development, construction and operation – and the financial ability – to support this activity. NextEra Energy Resources will pursue transmission development opportunities in areas that support our assets.
Recent transmission additions
One of the challenges in Texas is having enough transmission capacity to deliver renewable energy to where it's needed. To address this need, the company completed its largest transmission construction project to date – the 229-mile Texas Clean Energy Express, which connects West Texas wind facilities to other areas in the state where electricity is needed.
In California, NextEra Energy Resources completed a 67-mile-long, 230-kilovolt transmission line in Blythe, Calif. The new line allows the company to deliver electricity from the 507-megawatt Blythe power plant directly to a key customer.
