For decades, NextEra Energy Resources' subsidiaries have been helping fuel America’s economic growth and quality of life and moving our nation toward energy independence. To date, we operate solar projects in 27 states and Blackburn would be our first solar project in the state of North Carolina.

Features of the Blackburn Solar project: 

  • Photovoltaic (PV) solar arrays capable of generating up to 58 megawatts (MW) of clean, renewable energy.
  • The project encompasses approximately 600 acres.
  • Subject to local and state approvals, the project is scheduled to begin operations as early as 2022.

Employment Opportunities

The Blackburn Solar project will create local employment opportunities, including up to 100 jobs to construct the project.

County Tax Revenue

The Project provides approximately $2.3 million* in additional revenue for Catawba County, money that can enhance local roads, schools and services.
