CHESAPEAKE SOLAR PROJECT
118 Megawatts of Clean Energy in the City of Chesapeake, Virginia
For decades, NextEra Energy Resources' subsidiaries have been helping fuel America’s economic growth and quality of life and moving our nation toward energy independence. To date, we operate solar projects in 27 states, including the 2.5 megawatt Front Royal Solar Project in Virginia.
Features of the Chesapeake Solar project:
- Photovoltaic (PV) solar arrays capable of generating up to 118 megawatts (MW) of clean, renewable energy.
- The project encompasses approximately 912 acres.
- Subject to local and state approvals, the project is scheduled to begin operations by end of 2022.

Bringing Economic Opportunities
Solar projects generate home-grown, renewable energy, while preserving clean air and water. They can also generate significant economic benefits for the communities that host them.

Employment Opportunities
Chesapeake Solar project will create local employment opportunities, including up to 250 jobs to construct the project.

City Tax Revenue
The Project will provide approximately $5.5 million* in additional revenue for the City of Chesapeake, money that can enhance local roads, schools and services.
