FIREWHEEL WIND PROJECT

1,030 Megawatts of Clean Energy in Hansford County, Texas

 

Since 1999, NextEra Energy Resources' subsidiaries have been helping fuel the state’s economic growth and quality of life and moving our country toward energy independence.


The Firewheel Wind project features:

  • Up to 367 GE wind turbines capable of generating approximately 1,030 megawatts (MW) of clean, renewable energy.
  • Subject to local and state approvals, the project is scheduled to begin operations by the end of 2022.

Employment Opportunities

Firewheel Wind will create local employment opportunities, including up to 300 construction and 21 good-paying, full-time jobs to maintain and operate.

The Project provides approximately $50 million* in payments to Hansford County landowners - stable, reliable income families can depend on, regardless of weather.
