BIrCH BAY PROJECT
100 Megawatts of Energy Storage in Whatcom County, Washington
For decades, NextEra Energy Resources' subsidiaries have been helping fuel America’s economic growth and quality of life and moving our nation toward energy independence. To date, we have invested more than $307 million in Washington, including Stateline wind project. This project uses batteries to store energy and make it available when it’s most needed, improving the reliability and efficiency of the electric grid.
Features of the Birch Bay Project:
The project encompasses approximately 34 acres.
Subject to local and state approvals, the project is scheduled to begin operations as early as December 2025.

Employment Opportunities
The Birch Bay Project will create local employment opportunities, including up to 100 jobs to construct the project.

County Tax Revenue
The Project provides approximately $14 million* in additional revenue for Whatcom County, money that can enhance local roads, schools and services.
