Features of Gather Energy Center Project
Designed to store up to 200 megawatts (MW) of homegrown energy—enough to help power thousands of homes and businesses.
Targeted to begin operations as early as January 2028, pending all required permits and approvals, the project will bring new jobs, investment and opportunity to the area.
Supporting Jerome County
With an expected lifespan of 30 years, the Gather Energy Center project will provide the county with steady growth and long-term community benefits throughout the lifespan of the energy center. Development begins well before the project breaks ground.
Gather Energy Center serves as a catalyst for local economic growth, creating hundreds of construction jobs, supporting long-term employment opportunities and generating new revenue for the county through landowner payments and tax contributions.
Beyond job creation, the project boosts local businesses, from hotels and restaurants to caterers and office suppliers, by driving demand and supporting the broader regional economy. Our commitment also extends to improving local infrastructure and actively participating in community initiatives that enhance quality of life.
We’re proud to invest in the people and organizations that make our host communities strong.
Through continued engagement and meaningful support, Gather Energy Center is helping build a stronger, more resilient future.
Investing in Idaho
The Gather Energy Center project is fully funded by Gather Energy Center, a subsidiary of NextEra Energy Resources, LLC.
Because the project is privately funded, the tax revenue it generates represents new income for the community. Gather Energy Center will contribute additional tax dollars that local governments can invest where it’s needed most, helping to strengthen schools, improve roads, support first responders and enhance other vital community services.
These contributions help sustain local governments, police and fire departments, schools and other community organizations, demonstrating our ongoing commitment to investing in the communities where we operate.
Energy Always Available
Battery energy storage creates flexibility in our electrical grid, improving how we deliver and use electricity. These systems store power when demand is low and release it during peak hours when demand is high, enhancing grid reliability.
Jerome County is leading the way in a new era of American energy production, expanding reliable, renewable power sources that keep homes, businesses and communities running strong.
America has the energy, the resources and the innovation to achieve lasting energy independence.
