JACKALOPE WIND PROJECT

600 Megawatts of Clean Energy in Sweetwater County, Wyoming


Since 2003, NextEra Energy Resources' subsidiaries have been helping fuel the state’s economic growth and quality of life and moving our country toward energy independence. To date, we have invested approximately $729 million in Wyoming, including two operational wind energy centers.

The Jackalope Wind project features:

  • Up to 213 GE wind turbines capable of generating approximately 600 megawatts (MW) of clean, renewable energy.
  • Over 3 years of extensive siting surveys to minimize impact and maximize benefits in Sweetwater, County.
  • Subject to local and state approvals, the project is scheduled to begin operations by June 2027.

Bringing Economic Opportunities


Wind farms are compatible with agriculture and are fast becoming an important component of farm viability in Wyoming and many areas across the country. They can also generate significant economic benefits for the communities that host them.

Employment Opportunities

Jackalope Wind will create local employment opportunities, including up to 450 construction and 20 good-paying, full-time jobs to maintain and operate.

The Project provides approximately $200 million* in additional revenue for Sweetwater County, money that can enhance local roads, schools and services.
