LAKE MILLS WIND PROJECT
320 Megawatts of Clean Energy in Winnebago County, Iowa
Since 2003, NextEra Energy Resources' subsidiaries have been helping fuel the state’s economic growth and quality of life and moving our country toward energy independence.
The Lake Mills Wind project features:
- Up to 113 GE wind turbines capable of generating approximately 320 megawatts (MW) of clean, renewable energy.
- Subject to local and state approvals, the project is scheduled to begin operations by December 2028.

Bringing Economic Opportunities
Wind farms are compatible with agriculture and are fast becoming an important component of farm viability in Iowa and many areas across the country. They can also generate significant economic benefits for the communities that host them.

Employment Opportunities
Lake Mills Wind will create local employment opportunities, including up to 770 construction jobs and 7 good-paying, full-time jobs to maintain and operate.

Landowners Payments
The project provides approximately $180 million* in payments to Winnebago County landowners — stable, reliable income families can depend on, regardless of weather.

County Tax Revenue
The project provides approximately $200 million* in additional revenue for Winnebago County, money that can enhance local roads, schools and services.

Local Spending
Wind farms provide indirect income to local businesses, including hotels, restaurants, caterers and other companies.
