Meet The Team
Jay Emmanuel joined NextEra Energy in 2022 and is based in Washington, D.C. Jay’s focus is on sourcing and supporting investments in Cybersecurity and Enterprise Technology.
Prior to NextEra Energy, Jay was a Partner at Capital One Ventures, where he led Capital One’s investments in Cybersecurity and Infrastructure. His notable investments at Capital One included Securonix, Observe Inc., Corelight and Aqua Security. Jay also worked at InQTel, where he invested in several Infrastructure companies, and has spent many years in his early career as an engineer developing networking software and products.
Jay has a M.S. in computer engineering from the University of Maryland in College Park.
Vivek brings technology and operational experience to the NextEra Energy Investments team, having served as CEO of early-stage venture backed startups in Silicon Valley for the past 15+ years. Vivek has worked in a range of technologies – starting with Microprocessors to Systems and Software, to Wireless and Video, to Internet and Cloud computing. Vivek is a hands-on executive who works closely with our portfolio companies to assist them in their journey from fundraising to product-market fit, to GTM strategies, to scaling the business and outcomes. Vivek worked in Fortune 500 companies (Hewlett-Packard, Intel, Cypress) during the early part of his career and is a graduate of BITS Pilani, Virginia Tech and Stanford GSB.
Jacqueline Underwood manages the Social Impact Investments Team and is responsible for being intentional to make investments that diversify the company’s portfolio.
She has been with NextEra Energy for more than 15 years and has supported various efforts across the business, including economic development efforts with incentive rates for growing businesses, capacity building community programs and resources to local and regional economic development organizations. She also directly supported data center and cryptocurrency business development projects throughout the state.
Jacqueline has worked in Corporate Development & Strategy, Marketing & Communications, Human Resources and External Affairs & Economic Development business units during her time with the company. She has worked on various projects across the company, including Energy Smart Florida, the company’s smart meter and smart technology initiative; spearheading the college relations and intern program; managing the company’s employee giving efforts; and managing company sponsorships; business development and economic development.
She has always worked closely with the communities the company serves to make them a better place to work and raise a family.
