NIYOL WIND ENERGY CENTER
200 Megawatts of Clean Energy in Logan County and Northeastern Colorado
Since 2003, NextEra Energy Resources' subsidiaries have been helping fuel the state’s economic growth and quality of life and moving our country toward energy independence. To date, we have invested more than $2.7 billion in Colorado, including eight operational wind energy centers and four operational solar projects.
The Niyol Wind Energy Center features:
- 74 GE wind turbines capable of generating approximately 206 megawatts (MW) of clean, renewable energy.
- Began commercial operation in December 2021.

Bringing Economic Opportunities
Wind farms are compatible with agriculture and are fast becoming an important component of farm viability in Colorado and many other areas across the country. They can also generate significant economic benefits for the communities that host them.

Employment Opportunities
Niyol Wind Energy Center creates local employment opportunities, including up to 250 construction and 6-7 good-paying, full-time jobs to maintain and operate.

Landowners Payments
The Project provides approximately $25 million* in payments to Northeastern Colorado landowners - stable, reliable income families can depend on, regardless of weather.

County Tax Revenue
The Project provides approximately $24 million* in additional revenue for Northeastern Colorado, money that enhances local roads, schools and services.

Local Spending
Wind farms provide indirect income to local businesses, including hotels, restaurants, caterers and other companies.
