PIONEER CREEK WIND PROJECT
250 Megawatts of Clean Energy in Ford County, Kansas
Since 2003, NextEra Energy Resources' subsidiaries have been helping fuel the state’s economic growth and quality of life and moving our country toward energy independence. To date, we have invested more than $2 billion in Kansas, including eight operational wind energy centers.
The Pioneer Creek Wind project features:
- Up to 90 GE wind turbines capable of generating approximately 250 megawatts (MW) of clean, renewable energy.
- Subject to local and state approvals, the project is scheduled to begin operations by the end of 2025.

Bringing Economic Opportunities
Wind farms are compatible with agriculture and are fast becoming an important component of farm viability in Kansas and many other areas across the country. They can also generate significant economic benefits for the communities that host them.

Employment Opportunities
Pioneer Creek Wind will create local employment opportunities, including up to 300 construction and 7 to 10 good-paying, full-time jobs to maintain and operate.

Landowners Payments
The Project provides approximately $36 million* in payments to Ford County landowners - stable, reliable income families can depend on, regardless of weather.

County Tax Revenue
The Project provides approximately $84 million* in additional revenue for Ford County, money that can enhance local roads, schools and services.

Local Spending
Wind farms provide indirect income to local businesses, including hotels, restaurants, caterers and other companies.
