PLATTE WIND PROJECT

800 Megawatts of Clean Energy in Keith, Garden and Deuel counties, Nebraska


Since 2003, NextEra Energy Resources' subsidiaries have been helping fuel the state’s economic growth and quality of life and moving our country toward energy independence.

The Platte Wind project features:

  • Up to 250 GE wind turbines capable of generating approximately 800 megawatts (MW) of clean, renewable energy.
  • Subject to local and state approvals, the project is scheduled to begin operations by June 2028.

Bringing Economic Opportunities


Wind farms are compatible with agriculture and are fast becoming an important component of farm viability in Nebraska and many areas across the country. They can also generate significant economic benefits for the communities that host them.

Employment Opportunities

Platte Wind will create local employment opportunities, including up to 300 construction jobs.

The project provides approximately $180 million* in payments to Deuel County landowners — stable, reliable income families can depend on, regardless of weather.

The project provides approximately $98.5 million* in additional revenue for Keith, Garden and Deuel counties, money that can enhance local roads, schools and services.
