RICE ENERGY CENTER PROJECT
300 Megawatts of Clean Energy in Rice County, Kansas
Since 2003, NextEra Energy Resources' subsidiaries have been helping fuel the state’s economic growth and quality of life and moving our country toward energy independence.
The Rice Energy Center project features:
- Up to 106 GE wind turbines capable of generating approximately 300 megawatts (MW) of clean, renewable energy.
- Subject to local and state approvals, the project is scheduled to begin operations by May 2028.

Bringing Economic Opportunities
Wind farms are compatible with agriculture and are fast becoming an important component of farm viability in Kansas and many areas across the country. They can also generate significant economic benefits for the communities that host them.

Employment Opportunities
Rice Energy Center will create local employment opportunities, including up to 250 construction jobs.

Landowners Payments
The project provides millions* in payments to Rice County landowners — stable, reliable income families can depend on, regardless of weather.

County Tax Revenue
The project provides millions* in additional revenue for Rice County, money that can enhance local roads, schools and services.

Local Spending
Wind farms provide indirect income to local businesses, including hotels, restaurants, caterers and other companies.
