SOUTHWEST ATLANTA ENERGY STORAGE

250 Megawatts of Energy Storage in Fulton County, Georgia


For decades, NextEra Energy Resources' subsidiaries have been helping fuel America’s economic growth and quality of life and moving our nation toward energy independence. To date, we have invested more than $851.3 million in Georgia, including Cool Springs Storage project. This project uses batteries to store energy and make it available when it’s most needed, improving the reliability and efficiency of the electric grid.

Features of the Southwest Atlanta Energy Storage project: 

  • The project encompasses approximately 60 acres.
  • Subject to local and state approvals, the project is scheduled to begin operations as early as October 2027.

Employment Opportunities

The Southwest Atlanta Energy Storage project will create local employment opportunities, including up to 50 jobs to construct the project.

County and City Tax Revenue

The Project provides approximately $60 million* in additional revenue for Fulton County, money that can enhance local roads, schools and services.
