SWAN LAKE WIND PROJECT

248 Megawatts of Clean Energy in Yankton and Turner Counties, South Dakota


Since 2003, NextEra Energy Resources' subsidiaries have been helping fuel the state’s economic growth and quality of life and moving our country toward energy independence.

The Swan Lake Wind project features:

  • Up to 97 GE wind turbines capable of generating approximately 248 megawatts (MW) of clean, renewable energy.
  • Subject to local and state approvals, the project is scheduled to begin operations by December 2027.

Bringing Economic Opportunities

Employment Opportunities

Swan Lake Wind will create local employment opportunities, including up to 400 construction jobs.

The project provides approximately $39 million* in payments to Turner & Yankton County landowners — stable, reliable income families can depend on, regardless of weather.

The project provides approximately $1.1 million per year in additional revenue for Yankton and Turner Counties, money that can enhance local roads, schools and services.
