109 Megawatts of Clean Energy in Lincoln County, Minnesota
Since 2003, NextEra Energy Resources' subsidiaries have been helping fuel the state’s economic growth and quality of life and moving our country toward energy independence. To date, we have invested more than $280 million in Minnesota, including two operational wind energy centers.
The Buffalo Ridge Wind project features:
- 40 GE wind turbines capable of generating approximately 109 megawatts (MW) of clean, renewable energy.
- Began commercial operations in October 2023.

Bringing Economic Opportunities
Wind farms are compatible with agriculture and are fast becoming an important component of farm viability in Minnesota and many areas across the country. They can also generate significant economic benefits for the communities that host them.

Employment Opportunities
Buffalo Ridge Wind creates local employment opportunities, including up to 250 construction and 6 good-paying, full-time jobs to maintain and operate.

Landowners Payments
The Project provides approximately $18 million* in payments to Lincoln County landowners - stable, reliable income families can depend on, regardless of weather.

County Tax Revenue
The Project provides approximately $15 million* in additional revenue for Lincoln County, money that can enhance local roads, schools and services.

Local Spending
Wind farms provide indirect income to local businesses, including hotels, restaurants, caterers and other companies.
