CHUGWATER ENERGY CENTER
600 Megawatts of Clean Energy in Platte County, Wyoming
Since 2020, NextEra Energy Resources' subsidiaries have been helping fuel the state’s economic growth and quality of life and moving our country toward energy independence.
The Chugwater Energy Project features:
- Up to 107 GE wind turbines capable of generating approximately 300 megawatts (MW) of clean, renewable energy.
- Solar and Energy Storage: A 150-megawatt photovoltaic solar energy generating center paired with a 150-megawatt, 4-hour energy storage system.
- Subject to local and state approvals, the project is scheduled to begin operations by December 2027.

Bringing Economic Opportunities
The Chugwater Energy Project will generate homegrown, American energy while also securing significant economic benefits for Platte County.

Employment Opportunities
The Chugwater Energy Project will create local employment opportunities, including up to 450 construction and 12 good-paying, full-time jobs to maintain and operate.

Landowners Payments
The project will provide payments to Platte County landowners — stable, reliable income families can depend on, regardless of weather.

County Tax Revenue
The Chugwater Energy Project provides approximately $180 million* in additional revenue for Platte County, money that can enhance local roads, schools and services.

Local Spending
Wind projects provide indirect income to local businesses, including hotels, restaurants, caterers and other companies.
