GRASS LAKE SOLAR PROJECT

100 Megawatts of Clean Energy in Leoni Township and Grass Lake Charter Township, part of Jackson County, Michigan


For decades, NextEra Energy Resources' subsidiaries have been helping fuel America’s economic growth and quality of life and moving our nation toward energy independence. To date, we operate solar projects in more than 30 states, including Coldwater Solar in Branch County, Michigan.


Features of the Grass Lake Solar project:

  • Photovoltaic (PV) solar arrays capable of generating up to 100 megawatts (MW) of clean, renewable energy.

  • The project encompasses 1,000 acres but the infrastructure will be 600 acres.

  • Subject to local and state approvals, the project is scheduled to begin operations as early as 2026.

Employment Opportunities

The Grass Lake Solar project will create local employment opportunities, including 100-200 jobs to construct the project.

County Tax Revenue

The Project provides approximately $15 million* in additional revenue for Leoni Township and Grass Lake Charter Township, part of Jackson County, money that can enhance local roads, schools and services.
