Seabrook - Safety is Always First

The members of Seabrook's team are committed to excellence, and work together to ensure a safety culture where protection of public health and safety is always the highest priority. Extensive programs ensure that protection through plant design, experienced and well-trained employees, a comprehensive emergency plan, and a strong security program.

Performance Excellence

Seabrook Station has an excellent operating record, and is recognized as one of the leading plants in the nuclear industry as measured by both the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission's performance indicators, as well as the industry's independent evaluation and accreditation organization (Institute of Nuclear Power Operations).

The plant is committed to rigorous maintenance, testing and upgrading of systems when needed, and to extensive, ongoing worker training. The NextEra Energy Nuclear Fleet and Seabrook Station are committed to significant investment in the plant, continually improving equipment and systems, incorporating new designs, safety features and training programs.

Environmental stewardship

In 2002, Seabrook Station received ISO 14001 certification, which is an internationally recognized environmental management standard. ISO 14001 defines several key requirements with which companies should comply in order to operate in an environmentally responsible manner, and Seabrook demonstrated its full compliance to receive this certification.

Being located on marshlands adjacent to the Atlantic Ocean, Seabrook Station has also played a key role as an environmental steward. For many years the plant has supported the New Hampshire Estuary Project, an organization working to improve the water quality in the Hampton/Seabrook Estuary.

Seabrook Station's marsh and wooded areas are home to a wide variety of birds and other animals, many of which can be observed on the nature trail that winds through a portion of the site.
