Solar - Solar Development Projects
NextEra Energy Resources is pursuing clean, renewable solar energy through the development of solar thermal energy projects, such as the Genesis Project in California and solar photovoltaic energy projects, such as the McCoy Project and Desert Sunlight Project in California. These plants complement the national goal of expanding the country's use of renewable energy.
The company already has experience with both technologies. Its seven Solar Electric Generating Systems (SEGS) facilities in California's Mojave Desert represent solar thermal technology and are collectively known as the world's largest solar site. SEGS has a generating capability of 310 megawatts during peak production. NextEra Energy Resources also owns and operates solar photovoltaic facilities, including the Hatch Solar Energy Center in New Mexico and the Paradise Solar Energy Center in New Jersey.
